What we store on your device

The game saves your best score (a single number) in the localStorage of your browser. We use it only to show your best score when you play again. This data stays on your device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.

Games in progress are not saved. You can delete your best score at any time by clearing the site data forcapybaramerge.com in your browser settings.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to learn how many people visit the site, which pages they open, how long they stay and which websites or searches brought them here. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named_ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) to tell visits apart, and it collects technical data such as your browser, device type and approximate location derived from your IP address. We do not send your name, email address or any other personal details to Google Analytics, and we do not use it to show ads.

Google Analytics also records five game events: when you start a game (the first drop of each game, with whether you started it with "Play again" and whether that drop was made with a mouse, touch, pen or the keyboard, as the parameters replay and input); when a game ends (your score, the biggest capybara tier you reached, the number of drops and the length of the game in seconds, as the parameters score, max_tier, drops and duration_sec); when you reach tier 6 or higher for the first time in a game (the tier, as the parameter tier); when a game beats your saved best score (the score); and when a capybara image fails to load (the image file name, as the parameter file). These events contain no personal information. They are sent only when Google Analytics is loaded, under the rules below.

Your choice

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask first. Google Analytics does not load, and sets no cookies, unless you press Accept. To find out where you are, the page asks Cloudflare, our host, for the country of your connection; this request goes to our own domain and nothing is stored. If the country cannot be found, we treat you as a visitor from these regions.

Everywhere else, Google Analytics loads by default. Anyone can change their choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Your choice is saved in the localStorage of your browser. If you reject after you accepted, we stop measuring and delete the Google Analytics cookies.

Google processes this data under its own terms. Seehow Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can block these cookies in your browser settings, or install theGoogle Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The game works the same whatever you choose.

Ads and other third parties

The site shows no ads and loads no third-party scripts other than Google Analytics. It loads no web fonts. If this changes, we will update this page before the change goes live.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data, such as your IP address, to deliver the pages and protect the service. See theCloudflare privacy policy for details.

Children

The site does not ask for or knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The only data collected is the visit data described under Analytics and cookies.
